The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Strategies will lead a system-wide initiative to cultivate a culture of innovation, strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems, and expand opportunities across all public colleges and universities. The goal is to unify and enhance innovation efforts across USG institutions, foster public-private partnerships, support technology commercialization, and drive regional and rural economic development. These efforts will align with the USG’s mission in research, education, and public service.
The Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) designation, awarded by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), recognizes universities that excel in fostering economic growth, innovation, and community engagement. This prestigious designation highlights our commitment to driving regional development through research, talent development, and strong community partnerships.
Purpose: We have formed this committee with the belief we can create better cohesion across the community, help connect people together for solutions and share information for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Annual team competition for Innovation and real-world problem-solving ideas. Bringing faculty, staff, and students together to solve community problems. In collaboration with Scott Thorp, Vahe Heboyan, the Georia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and Augusta University sponsors.
Teaching and implementing a new pathway with support of Dr. Huggins and Dr. Davis in the Certificate of Leadership for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The only course on campus taught in a maker space.

Organized a group which created a device to encourage individuals to sanitize their hands. Backed by research which indicates that positive reinforcement can improve desired behaviors, such as hand washing.

Led the effort to pull together a task force that has provided AU Health making 500 face masks molded from silicone.
Organized a team from several different colleges at Augusta University to produce 1000 face shields using 3D printing to help protect Augusta University Health clinical staff and patients from exposure to COVID-19.
